Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Parks & Recreation, we are currently taking applications for a seasonal Park Supervisor. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply. The salary for this position is $15.00 per hour.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

Supervisors are to obey and enforce park rules.
Supervisors are to communicate with park patrons in a positive manner.
Supervisors are responsible for routine maintenance including but not limited to: keeping the Park, bathrooms, pavilion, spray park, and all facilities tidy at all times. Picking up trash, emptying trash barrels, light mowing, and trimming, etc.
Supervisors must wear a shirt that identifies them as a Town of Agawam Employee.
Supervisors are responsible for reporting their hours to the Parks and Recreation Department by 9:00AM every Monday.
Supervisors are responsible for all other policies, guidelines, and procedures set forth by the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Town of Agawam.
Hours vary and are flexible but are typically from 8:00AM to 3:00PM Monday through Friday. Additional hours are needed for concerts and special events.
Hours vary from 20 to 25 hours per week.
This is a seasonal job from approximately April 1 through October 1.

Job duties are subject to change as directed by the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Town of Agawam.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervisors are to obey and enforce park rules.

• Supervisors are to communicate with park patrons in a positive manner.

• Supervisors are responsible for keeping the Spray Park, bathrooms, pavilion, and surrounding park area tidy at all times. (Sweeping park, sidewalk, bathrooms, picking up trash, emptying trash barrels, etc.)

• Supervisors must wear a shirt that identifies them as a Town of Agawam Employee.

• Supervisors are responsible for reporting their hours to the Parks and Recreation Department by 9:00AM Monday.

• Supervisors are responsible for all other policies, guidelines, and procedures set forth by the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Town of Agawam.

• Typical hours are from 4:00PM to 7:00PM Monday through Friday and 11:00AM to 7:00PM on Saturday and Sunday from approximately July 1 through Labor Day.

• Job duties are subject to change as directed by the Director of Parks & Recreation and the Town of Agawam.

Perry Lane - Camp Counselor

Title: Perry Lane Camp Counselor

Department: Parks and Recreation

Summary:

Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising a wide variety of activities at the camp, ranging from movement activities and games to arts and crafts.

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age to apply. Applicants must be able to work on Monday – Friday. The salary for this position is $14.75 per hour.

Typical Duties & Responsibilities:

Conducts a diversified program of activities for ages 4 - 15.
Stimulates interest in and directs a variety of competitive and non-competitive recreation activities.
Inspects camp equipment and recommends maintenance and repair work as necessary.
Reports disciplinary problems to the Camp Director and act accordingly.
Attends in-service training and professional conferences required by the Director of Parks and Recreation Department.

Qualifications:

Good knowledge of leadership techniques, as well as, skills in planning, organizing, and supervising recreation activities for varying group sizes and ages.
General knowledge of a wide variety of recreation programs, as well as, skills in communication and public relations, since the Camp Leader is a representative of the Agawam Parks and Recreation Department.
Must be able to work effectively with both program participants, as well as, other staff members.
Should have a thorough knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of the Agawam Parks and Recreation Department.
Must be physically able to participate in all program activities with program participants.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
