On Friday, August 23rd, the Department of Public Works will be installing a SAMI stone layer on the section of Springfield Street from Mill Street to O’Brien’s Corner.  Work is expected to last 1 day.  

The SAMI installation will be performed in 3 sections.  The following road closures and detours shall be in place on Friday, August 23^rd and may extend into Saturday, August 24^th:

• Section 1 - Mill Street to Franklin Street: Eastbound traffic will be detoured through the Sacred Heart Church intersection down Mill Street and up Franklin Street.  Westbound traffic will be detoured down Franklin Street to Mill Street.
• Section 2 - Franklin Street to Arnold Street: Eastbound traffic will be detoured down Franklin Street to Mill Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured up Arnold Street to North Street.
• Section 3 - Arnold Street to O'Brien's Corner: Eastbound traffic will be detoured up Arnold Street to North Street. Westbound traffic will be allowed through O'Brien's Corner to Springfield Street.  Only 1 lane of traffic will be open.

Road paving will begin on Monday, August 26^th and continue through Thursday, August 29^th.  The following road closures and detours will be in place during paving:

• Monday, August 26^th: Springfield Street will be closed from Mill Street to Franklin Street.  Eastbound traffic will be detoured through the Sacred Heart Church intersection down Mill Street and up Franklin Street.  Westbound traffic will be detoured down Franklin Street to Mill Street.
• Tuesday, August 27^th: Springfield Street will be closed between Franklin Street and Cleveland Street.  Eastbound traffic will be detoured down Franklin Street to Mill Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured up Cleveland Street to North Street.
• Wednesday, August 28^th: Springfield Street will be closed between Cleveland Street and O’Brien’s Corner. Eastbound traffic will be detoured up Cleveland Street to North Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured up North Street and down Cleveland Street.
• Thursday, August 29^th: Paving crews will be installing new aprons on the side streets off Springfield Street.  Only one lane of traffic will be open on Springfield Street.

Access will be maintained to residences and businesses within closed sections of Springfield Street, but traffic delays should be expected.
