[ARCHIVED] West of the River Collaborative Vaccination Site Opening Day

PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release
 April 12, 2021

West of the River Collaborative Vaccination Site
 Opening Day

West Springfield, MA: A day we have longed for; the West of the River Collaborative Vaccination Site has been officially approved and will have its opening day on Tuesday, April 20, 2021. A ribbon cutting will be held on the 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Transportation Center, located near Gate 1 of the Eastern States Exposition, 1305 Memorial Avenue, West Springfield, where the vaccine site will operate. Vaccines will be administered following the ribbon cutting from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The West of the River Collaborative has brought together West Springfield, Agawam, Westfield, Southwick, Granville and Tolland, along with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, to provide easier access to the vaccine for residents west of the Connecticut River. Collaborating with the surrounding municipalities and being able to provide a closer location was important to all of the elected officials involved.

To provide equity to the cities and towns collaborating with the vaccination site, 25% of the vaccines will be allocated specifically for the residents of each municipality. Residents should contact their municipality for vaccination information. We suggest that everyone pre-register at vaccinesignup.mass.gov.

Moving forward, the vaccination site will run five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Appointments will be made available every Wednesday online at townofwestspringfield.org/vaccine for the following week. Appointments are required for this vaccination site and if you arrive more than 15 minutes early, you are not permitted to be on the Eastern States Exposition grounds. If you are 15 or more minutes late, you will be required to reschedule your appointment for another time. If you have any questions, please email COVID@tows.org for more information.

For additional information regarding the ribbon cutting event, please contact Rachel Gelina, Executive Assistant to Mayor Reichelt, at rgelina@tows.org or (413) 263-3041.
