MassDOT Bicycle Transportation Plan
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has created an online wikimap similar to what we did here in Agawam for our Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. If you want to comment on places that are nice to bike or you would like to see improvements, visit the Massachusetts Bicycle Transportation Plan website, mark up the map and make your comments!
Agawam's Baystate Bike Week Event
Postponed until May 16 due to weather! Agawam's 3rd Annual Baystate Bike Week Event will be on May 16 at 1:45 p.m. at the Agawam High School.

Morgan Sullivan Bridge & Intersection
A public hearing for the Morgan Sullivan bridge project took place on August 31, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Agawam Senior Center located at 954 Main Street. This project will reconstruct the bridge and the 3 adjacent traffic signals (Springfield/Walnut, Suffield/Main and River/Memorial) and their approaches. Significant improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians are also being proposed including a separated bicycle lane.

Feeding Hills Intersection
The proposed project consists of traffic signal and intersection improvements at the town-owned intersection of Route 187 and 57 in Agawam, including geometrical improvements, additional auxiliary and wider lanes, improved lane usage markings and signing, improvements to the Granger School pick-up and drop-off areas, and revised signal phasing and timing. Bicycle accommodations consisting of a 5’ bicycle lane have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides and pedestrian improvements are also included.

Traffic Calming - Reed St/Hendom Dr/Barbara Ln
The Town of Agawam is currently reviewing residential requests for the implementation of traffic calming mechanisms on Barbara Lane, Reed Street and the Hendom Neighborhood.

O'Brien's Corner
The Town of Agawam is pleased to announce that it has received a $400,000 Complete Streets Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for the construction of improvements to the O’Brien’s Corner intersection.

Route 187 - South Westfield & Pine
The proposed project consists of roadway improvements on South Westfield Street from 425 feet south of the South Westfield Street/Pine Street intersection to Route 57, a distance of approximately 0.3 miles. The roadway will be widened to increase the shoulder width, minor alignment modifications will improve sight distance, full depth roadway reconstruction to lower a vertical crest/ improve sight lines, milling and resurfacing the roadway, and new accessible sidewalks. Bicycle accommodations will consist of a 5 foot shoulder.

Complete Streets Program
The Town of Agawam is working with MassDOT to implement a Complete Streets Program. Complete streets are designed and operated to provide safety and accessibility for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders and motorists.
