The IT Department provides management, oversight, and direction for City departments to more cost-effectively and efficiently deliver services to their customers through information technology and business process automation.

Responsibilities

The IT Departments primary responsibility is maintaining the City’s extensive computer and telecommunications networks and also with finding new ways to use technology to improve city services for Agawam’s residents and businesses.


Centralized Management

The IT Department manages the City's IT Infrastructure that provides information technology and telecommunications services to all Municipal departments and authorized users. Through centralized management of IT services, all users of the City’s network are able to more effectively share data, information, technology, resources and technical expertise in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Improving Technologies

The IT Department promotes an environment of continuous improvement using various technologies to improve the delivery of city services:
  • Continuously monitor and improve the information technology infrastructure
  • Migrate paper and legacy systems to current technology
  • Expand E-government (more online/less inline)
  • Improve interdepartmental information flows by implementing paperless technology wherever possible
